What Are Dental Crowns?
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap placed over a prepped tooth to restore its shape, strength, and appearance. Crowns can be made from materials like porcelain and ceramic, being popular for their natural look. They’re ideal for protecting weakened teeth that aren’t needed to be pulled. Aesthetically, crowns and veneers are often a great option for people that don’t like the way their teeth look, but have great roots. Not everyone needs their teeth pulled and dental implants placed. We candeliver our patients a great looking smile in many ways, and crowns/veneers can be a great option for people.
- Process
The Dental Crown Procedure
Getting a dental crown is a straightforward process that typically requires three visits:
01
Consultation & Design
Your dentist will discuss your options and talk about your desired look and color of your teeth. We will then take digital impressions and start digitally designing your teeth.
02
Temporary Crown
Your dentist prepares your tooth by reshaping it to fit the crowns. A temporary crown is placed and you get the chance to “test-drive” your smile to see what you like/don’t like.
03
Final Placement
After you give the thumbs up on the design of your teeth, we will fabricate your permanent crowns with our lab partners. Once they’re completed, you’ll come back in for your crowns to be placed. A new smile awaits!
